    The opening gala of the Polish Television Theaters Festival took place on October 22nd at the General Consulate of the Republic of Poland in New York. The event started with its Honorary Patron, Consul General of Poland Maciej Golubiewski welcoming the guests. The main organizer of the festival was Dariusz Zawiślak, PhD.

    The gala began with the screening of the movie "The Inspection" directed by Jacek Raginis-Królikiewicz who presented his introductory remarks. During the evening, After thtat, Jacek Czarnecki, PhD, a Józef Piłsudski Institute lecturer presented his speech: "Katyn Massacre: An Open Wound for the Polish Nation". The opening ceremony was attended by 150 people.

     

    The Festival of Polish Television Theaters, widely promoted by the Consulate and the Institute of Polish Culture, will stretch from October 14th to November 15th, 2018. The highlights will be presented in the largest Polonia centers, e.g. The Polish Slavic Center and the Piłsudski Institute, Brooklyn and all shows are English- subtitled to attract the American audience. The theatrical-movies have been selected in cooperation with the Television Creation Agency TVP S.A.

    In addition to “The Inspection" - a shocking picture of the last months leading to the Katyn massacre, the festival will feature "Pan Jowialski" - dir. By Artur Żmijewski, "Fryderyk" - dir. Agnieszka Lipiec-Wróblewska, "Our God's Brother" or "Totus Tuus" - dir. Paweł Woldan, "Marszałek" - dir. Krzystof Lang, "Polish Lessons" - dir. Mariusz Malec. The festival will also feature comedy productions: "Tischner Variations" - dir. Arthur Wiecka or musicasl: "Rio" - dir. Redbad Klynstra-Komarnicki or "Do dna" - dir. Ewa Kaim.

    The festival is held under the patronage of Senator Stanisław Karczewski - the Speaker of the Polish Senate, and the Honorary Patronage of the General Consul of the Republic of Poland in New York.
